Sometimes reportage can be just a way to describe and remember a beautiful moment. Central Park on a nice day is like a little slice of peace in the middle of Manhattan.
I did this picture while sitting on a rock, and was art directed by an eight year old girl who watched me paint it. She confided in me that she wants to be an artist, that is, if the veterinarian thing doesn’t work out for her! It’s great to be eight years old…I think that’s partly why I like reportage illustration. It lets me keep the excitement of being an eight year old alive.
I’m getting ready for my trip to Asia, and it was nice to just sit and paint this for a few minutes and enjoy the day.
Ah, very inspiring. Kids make great art directors!
