Happy to announce that I am in two exhibits this month! The first one, pictured above, is called Transcriptors: Illustration, Documentary and the Material at University for the Creative Arts, Â Farnham in the UK. The photo above shows one of my drawings from 9/11 at the entrance to the gallery; in the case are publications and sketchbook by Olivier Kugler, Nina Sabnani’s book The Stiches Speak, and my book September 11, 2001: Words and Pictures. A few more images from the exhibit are below; thanks to Jim Walker for curating. The exhibit is up through December, so if you are in Surrey, check it out!
The other exhibit that I am happy to be a part of this month is the Society of Illustrators Members Show: Food Fight! Society members were invited to submit a favorite illustration of food: I entered my reportage drawing of Union Square, below.
Here’s me at the opening the other night, photo by Margaret Hurst:
I was also honored to be invited to be one of the jurors for the Stevan Dohanos award at the exhibit. Here I am with the other jurors, Brian Ajhar and Stefano Imbert, along with Leslie Cober-Gentry, who curated the exhibition. There was a lot of good work that made it hard to choose. Thanks Leslie for your hard work in organizing the exhibition.
We had a good time jurying the exhibition, as you can see from this photo. The exhibit is up at the Society through December 30, check it out if you’re in town.
This is wonderful. Congratulations!
I love the Union Square Farmer’s Market sketch — beautiful use of sparse colors.
