September 11, 2001. So much has changed since that terrible day in NYC 20 years ago, but for those who lived through it, the emotions are still raw. I recently contributed a telling of my drawings and experience of the events to the “5 minutes of drawing” video series of the Fine Arts University of Lisbon.
You can view it on Instagram: @fbaul
(The video may trigger some strong feelings.)
Next Friday, September 17th, I will be discussing those drawings, and the art of reportage, with RISD Professor Fred Lynch, at 9 am EST on Instagram Live @fbaul.
This drawing above was made at a memorial at a midtown fire station a few weeks after the attacks. Gratitude for the First Responders of New York City was high then, and continues to be high in these trying times of pandemic.
